9 Indoor Activities for Your Family

With almost all Americans now under stay-at-home regulations, being home around the clock may cause families to go a little stir crazy. If you’re scratching your head, wondering what you can do to stay productive, healthy and stress-free, you’re not alone. Keeping your kids entertained at home, without friends or the normal activities they’re used to, could be really challenging. That’s why we’ve thought outside of the box and created a list of activities suitable for everyone to make our time spent at home more exciting.

1. Cook your favorite meal together.

Just because most restaurants are closed right now doesn’t mean that you can’t bring a fine dining experience to your own kitchen. Cooking is a great way to involve all members of your family, as you can learn something new together or teach a specific skill! The sky is the limit in the kitchen… be as imaginative as possible by brainstorming a completely unique three-course meal, try a new cuisine, or make that generational family recipe of spaghetti together.

2. Have a bake-off.

Bring “The British Bake-Off” to your kitchen and orchestrate a baking contest with your kids. Not only are desserts yummy, but they are also an excellent canvas! So, grab your imagination and your decorating talents, and whip up a batch of vanilla cupcakes with decadent frosting.

3. Learn or practice yoga.

Peace of mind and peace of body. Whether your inside or outside, this is a great time to practice mindfulness and develop a new, healthy habit with your kids. Many instructors have free videos on Youtube if you’re looking to follow along.

4. Scrapbooking.

Now is the perfect time to sort through all those boxes of photos in your house and create something memorable with your kids. Scrapbooking is an inexpensive activity that brings out the creative side in everyone and proves to be a valuable keepsake for treasuring family memories.

5. Paint/craft.

Unleash your artistic abilities during this quarantine and start crafting with your family. Who knows, when all of this is over this may be your new favorite hobby!

6. Build a fort.

Bring the outside inside by building a fort with your kids and having a “camp night” right in your living room.

7. Make a racetrack using painter’s tape.

Create the world’s largest racetrack… inside your own home. All you need for this fun activity is painter’s tape and some toy cars to race against each other.

8. Board games.

If you’re really looking to bunker down and spend some bonding time with your family, then pull out Monopoly (or any other board games lying around)! Board games may be the biggest cliché, but it’s a great way to spend screen-free time together. So, bring your game face and your competitive attitude, and get ready to win.

9. Do a puzzle.

With school’s being closed puzzles are the perfect activity to give you and your family a metal boost! Grab a 1000-piece puzzle, sprawl it out on the table and get to work as a team together.

If all else fails and you’re still looking for things to do, there’s nothing wrong popping some popcorn, grabbing your comfiest blanket, and watching a movie together. We hope everyone is staying happy and healthy during their time at home!
